This page outlines the network requirements and guidelines for using the Mobile WMS application and the device management MobiControl.

Mobile WMS
In most cases, the terminals running the Mobile WMS app are on a wireless network (WiFi or Mobile network like 4G/LTE).
The following sections will outline what you must consider in both these setups.
Using a Wireless Network
We advise that you only use the 2.4 GHz wireless band, as this gives a more stable connection between the mobile device and the ERP system. The range (coverage) of 2.4 GHz is also better than 5 GHz, which should require fewer access points in the warehouse.
The only other requirement is that the devices can connect to the ERP system's endpoint from the network they are on. This typically requires opening one or more ports in the firewall of the server hosting the web service.
Using 4G/LTE
It is important that the devices can connect to the endpoint of the ERP system from the cellular network.
This will work out of the box in a cloud setup like Business Central Cloud or similar, but if you are implementing Mobile WMS in an on-premise scenario you need to consider these options:
- Using a VPN to connect to the local resource.
- Opening the network for external access to a local resource.
Whether you select option 1 or 2 is up to you and what makes sense in your scenario.
