Problem

My device is not connected to MobiControl even though it is on the WIFI network


Resolution

  1. Unlock the device in order to check a few things, see: I want to unlock my scanner
  2. Make sure that it has Internet access, e.g can browse a web page
  3. Open the app called MobiControl
  4. Go to the Device Configuration page (can be found in the upper right menu)
  5. Check the Agent Status, it should say Connected - but as you are reading this article it might say Disconnected
  6. Click on the Agent Status label, as this will trigger the device to connect
  7. The Agent Status should change from Disconnected to Connected or Connecting
  8. If it gets the Connected Status, all is good
  9. If it is stuck connecting, then check these network prerequisites for connecting
  10. Firewall port 5494 must be opened for outbound connections for MobiControl to work. The Mobicontrol Server has the IP address 40.68.196.181 and hostname ds1.mobi.taskletfactory.com and ds1.mob2.taskletfactory.com + 40.114.220.164 port 5494.
