Mobile Device Brands
We recommend mobile devices from Honeywell and Zebra, as we have a long history with many successful projects. We also have direct access to technicians from these companies, which allows us to get technical support very quickly.
We also support other brands, and the application will work "out-of-the-box" on the following brands, provided the model is listed in the supported mobile devices section above.
Brands | Windows | Android |
Honeywell / Intermec | Yes | Yes |
Motorola / Zebra | Yes | Yes |
Psion | Yes | No |
M3 | Yes | No |
Datalogic | Yes | Yes |
Dotel | Yes | No |
Newland | No | Yes |
Android version support
Android is the preferred operating system for new scanner devices and is updated almost yearly by Google. When new hardware devices are released, they come with the latest version of Android provided by the hardware vendor. This version is always slightly behind Google's official release, but it is updated to incorporate the latest features from Google. These new versions bring subtle changes that may cause unintended behavior from applications.
To ensure that Mobile WMS runs as intended, our application is tested on all the Android versions we support. As a result, we have chosen to have a specific set of supported Android releases and will discontinue support for older versions over time.
It is important to note that when we discontinue support for an Android version, that does not mean that Mobile WMS will stop running on already installed devices. It means that we will not release new functionality in the application for those Android versions, as we cannot guarantee that they will perform in the expected manor.
Over time, new Android releases from hardware vendors for older devices may prolong a device's supported lifetime. But that is entirely up to the hardware vendor.
Below is the list of supported Android versions. The “End of development” column states by the end of which year, new development will no longer target that version.

Basic Requirements for Windows Mobile Devices (Legacy Devices)
Operating System
Supported: Windows Mobile 5 / 6.1 / 6.5 + Windows Embedded Handheld*
Not supported: Windows CE + Windows Embedded Compact 7
Please note that Windows Mobile is EOL and, therefore, is not being developed anymore. This also means that new features will not be ported to the Windows Mobile Platform.
Screen size/resolution (only Windows Embedded Handheld)
Supported: WVGA(800x480), QVGA (320 x 240), VGA (640 x 480) & Square** (320 x 320 / 640 x 640)
* Microsoft declared Windows Embedded Handheld End of Life on January 14, 2020. Therefore, Tasklet Factory will not develop further on this platform, and we highly recommend starting any new projects on supported Android devices instead.
** Due to the special screen format, the square resolution will limit the number of display lines possible. Typically, Mobile WMS will be limited to 3 or 4 display lines.
