Description

Set up and configure a new Zebra printer to be used with Cloud Print Service

Prerequisites

  • The printer is powered on
  • Loaded with Zebra branded label media
    • Preferably black mark media

Step 1: Check part number of printer

Find the parts number of the printer underneath, it will be listed as either PCC or Part Number.

(see pictures below on where to find them)

Compare your printers part number with the once on the list here: Supported Printers

For all printers with wi-fi capabilities we recommend setting printers up using that.

For the Industrial printers we recommend setting them up for LAN usage.

The mobile printers if the option is available we recommend setting them up for wi-fi and only use Bluetooth if there is no other option at the customer.

Step 2: Set up Networking

The following guides will guide you through connecting the printer to a network:

Wired Printer Guide or Wireless Printer guide

If the printer is intended to be used with Bluetooth instead follow this guide:

Bluetooth Printer Setup

Step 3: Set print mode to ZPL

The printer must be set to use "ZPL" language

Go to devices Language in the Zebra Print utility app

Set printer to XML and ZPL under Set Device Language.

Step 4: Set Printer media settings

The printer must be set to use the relevant media, either Black mark/"Bar" or "Gap".

In the Zebra Print utility app go to media settings:

To modify the settings tap on Media Settings

Set the width and length of the label and make sure it is set to label/tag

Set the Media Type to what matches the media being used and set Media Handling to tear off

After this hit apply and the printer will then restart.

Step 5: Further adjustment

Print Quality

If there is any issues with the print quality then you can adjust the speed if the print is streaky and darkness if the print is faded.

Both Speed and Darkness can be set trough the Zebra Print utility app, go to "Print Quality".

From here you can either choose to manually adjust or use the apps assistant.

In manual adjust you can set the values yourself and find the right settings with the print sample label.
