Problem

When barcodes are placed close to each other the scanner scans the wrong barcode. It seems like the scanner is too trigger-happy.

Solution

Most of the scanner devices has a feature called "Picklist", "Hardware Picklist" or "Center decode". The different names covers the same feature.

If this is enabled, the scanner will only read the barcode when the red dot is directly on the barcode.

On Honeywell devices the setting must be done in the start.cfg file even though there is a setting in the settings app on the device.

<scanEngineProperties>
	<scanEngineProperty key="DEC_WINDOW_MODE" value="true" />

On Zebra it is called "Picklist" (Hardware Picklist) and can be changed in the DataWedge. MobileWMS profile → Barcode iput → Configure scanner settings → Scanner configuration → Reader params → Picklist → Hardware Picklist.
On DataLogic: Android settings app → Datalogic Settings → Scanner settings → Scanner options → Enable picklist
