Description:

If you need to factory reset a Zebra device using an SD card, this guide will explain the steps you need to go through. This should only be done if Tasklet has directed you to do so.

Requirements:

  • A MicroSD card
  • The Zebra device needs to have a slot for the MicroSD card.
  • You will need a factory reset file on the SD card. This will be sent to you by the support team and can change depending on the model of the device and the Android version the device is running.
    • If you cannot transfer the file to the SD card, you can insert the SD card in a scanner that does work and transfer the file to the SD card by remote controlling that device in MobiControl, then transfer the SD card to the device that doesn’t work.

Steps to factory reset the Zebra device using an SD card:

  1. Copy the factory reset file to the root of the SD card. The file should not be unzipped.
  2. Install the SD card in the device.
  3. Turn on the device while pressing and holding the device-specific button for your device. See the device-specific buttons here. This will force the device to enter the Android Recovery screen.
  4. Navigate to the Apply upgrade from the SD card option and select it using the device-specific buttons.
  5. Navigate to the factory reset file on the SD card and select it.
  6. When the process is done, reboot the device. The device has now been factory reset and can be enrolled following the enrollment guide.
