Applies to Mobile WMS setup: Pick / “Show picking”

The Mobile WMS application can be used to pick items on picking routes in Dynamics AX/365FO. The picking routes can be generated from different areas in Dynamics AX/365FO e.g.

• Sales orders
• Transfer orders
• Shipments

The typical scenario is to create the picking routes from a shipment. In this process the items to pick are reserved according the configuration of Dynamics AX/365FO. The picking routes can be found in the <Picking list registration> window in Dynamics AX/365FO. <Inventory and warehouse management> / <Outbound orders> / <Picking list registration>.

All picking routes with status <registered>, <activated> or <started> are available on the mobile device. When the order is selected on the mobile device it is automatically started in Dynamics AX/365FO. This corresponds to:

When the pick order is posted from the mobile device the order lines are updated with the information registered on the mobile device and the status is changed to <Picked>. When all order lines have been picked the picking route changes status to <Completed>.

Location validation
The location at the order line is the location goods must be picked from. This location is maintained by Dynamics AX/365FO when the item is reserved.

Sorting of order lines
The mobile device sorts the order lines based on the <sort code> defined on the location. To have the system suggest an optimal route through the warehouse, the locations must have been given a meaningful sort code. The sort codes can be assigned using the <Sort codes> function in <Inventory management> / <Periodic> / <Locations> / <Sort codes>

Posting
When the picking route is posted from the mobile device only the picking route is updated. Any posting of packing slips or shipping of items must be performed manually in Dynamics AX/365FO or by using batch jobs. The posting corresponds to updating the picking route.
