This article outlines the lifecycle policies for Mobile WMS for Business Central (AppSource and on-premises updates).
Mobile WMS can be installed from AppSource, or on-prem using app files downloaded from Tasklet University. Separate On-Prem builds exists for each Business Central major release, and each such “major” Mobile WMS build has different maintenance cycles.
Maintenance cycle
When a Mobile WMS version is still in the maintenance cycle, all new features and bugfixes will be released for that version.
Knowledgebase articles at Business Central and PDF Guides are based on the most recent Mobile WMS release and are usually not maintained for older versions (even when these older versions are otherwise still being maintained).
When a Mobile WMS version is no longer in its maintenance cycle:
- New features and bugfixes are no longer released for the version
- Some support that was otherwise free may be billed on the hour
Mobile WMS installed from AppSource
When Mobile WMS is installed from AppSource updates are available for the most recent major BC version from production servers (current Microsoft 6-month April/Oct. cycle).
Also, updates may be available for an additional 0-6 months for the “outdated” major version following the start of a new major BC cycle (April/Oct.). However, this is not guaranteed as breaking changes in standard Business Central may prevent us from uploading versions for earlier majors to AppSource for validation.
Mobile WMS installed on-prem
When Mobile WMS is installed on-prem updates are available at least two years after the initial “major” version release. This follows the Microsoft “6+12 months” maintenance cycle for a major release + an additional 6-months support for Mobile WMS.
Some older Mobile WMS "major" versions has had their maintenance cycle extended beyond this. Please refer to the table and chart below.
